Importantly, it not only points to areas where the business can improve but also is a fantastic reminder that we are achieving goals in a competitive process. We love the NSW Tourism Awards!"

The Bluesfest achieved Hall of Fame at the 2017 NSW Tourism Awards after taking home Gold for the 3rd consecutive year. In total they have won 5 Golds and 3 Silvers in the Major Festivals and Events category. The festival also received Silver at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards 2017.

We have been involved with the NSW Tourism awards since 2010 and have relished the opportunity to review and improve our business annually to enhance our submission. We are proud to now be a member of the NSW Tourism Awards Hall of Fame, having won the Best Major Event and Festival Award three years in a row, and five times in total.  Under the rules we can’t enter again until 2020, whilst other worthy events in NSW get their chance of winning. We do intend to return in the future.”

Frank and Lynda White, owners of BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park, have a long history at all levels of the tourism awards program. In 2017, the BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park acheived Hall of Fame for the Caravan and Holiday Parks category at the NSW Tourism Awards and Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

“To achieve Hall of Fame at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards has exceeded our wildest expectations! When we first had the idea to enter the awards we looked to our competitors in awe, thinking it would be impossible to match their achievements. We are proud of our success and encourage all tourism businesses big or small to enter. A highlight of our awards journey has been the opportunity to represent the Murray Riverina region as well as NSW. The discipline involved in preparing your submission, the self-analysis against a comprehensive set of business criteria, and the constructive feedback from recognised industry experts is invaluable,”

"The NSW Tourism Awards process made us look at a range of things: triple bottom lines, helping us establish a number of recycling programs, using local infrastructure, social responsiblity programs like using volunteers to increase skills in the region, refining our financials and developing things like merchandise so we're not dependent on our sponsors."

"The awards process makes us a well-run festival and shows the community we're doing the right thing. I would highly recommend the process to any festival or tourism organisation - absolutely."

Graham and his wift Roselyn (Roz) started Ask Roz, a highly specialised mobile tourism app, 4 years ago. Graham puts some of their success down to the process of applying for the NSW Tourism Awards.

"I would encourage anyone in the business to bite the bullet and apply. Don't expect anything but good feedback and you'll grow. It's a journey worth going on because it forces you to look at yourself and that's priceless."

“We had a mate, who also runs an ECO company in Byron, suggest we put an application in because it was a really good experience for the business. And it’s true, it really makes you get stuck in and analyse what you’re doing and where you’re going. The awards are basically an opportunity to stop and look within your company and we started applying for them a few years back.”
